The simplisity is very attractive, and I like the lightning bolt piece attaching cloud and barrier.

Dumb question, what is cuttlefish casting?

I feel kind of silly wondering about 'do they seriously cast textures from cuttlefish' now...

well the texture on the cloud is exactly that, the natural surface of the cuttlefish. :)

That is just so cool. Probably a bit smelly though I'm thinking!

yep, the smell of burning cuttlefish is fairly strong, but after a few successful castings you get used to it. :)

This is very pretty! The sun ans lightening look spectacular! I like the idea of it, but that cloud looks a little undefined around the edges. Personally, I've never worked with oxidized cuttlefish casting, so I don't know how difficult it is to sculpt, but I would recommend maybe giving those edges a little definition. Other than that, is looks very nice, you did a good job on this.

Glad you like it and thanks for your comments, the cuttlefish cast for the clouds is of course only representative of a cloud like shape much the same as the lightning bolt is more imagination than reality on my part. The form that the casting gave is just the natural texture of cuttlefish without much intervention on my part. :)

You're welcome. :) Thanks for explaining that too, I thought you had sculpted the cloud.

Whoa, very nice! I was just about to get into cuttlefish bone casting too. I really like the texture that it gives the piece.

wow, I dig it. It's amazing how many designs you can do with cuttlefish casting. Although, I think it would have been cool if the lightning was gold too. Anyway, awesome pendant :D

thanks, glad you like it. gold would look great for the lightning bolt but they appear more blue / white to me. I could always change it for you though ;)

I love the cuddlefish casted clouds, and I know that using cuddlefish is difficult and stinky. So, I can appreciate the difficulties you faced.

I made something similar for a friend of mine that was deathly affraid of lightning, but I had added a bit of citrine to it. However, yours is much more lovely.

Keep on making!

Hum, I don't really like the cloud. Maybe a piece of a pure stone (like hematite) would have been better...

thanks for your comment, I haven't got the skills or equipment to cut, carve and polish stones like hematite. However using more gemstones in my work would certainly make things more colourful and possibly acceptable to a wider audience. :)
